Ten years ago, I had astigmatism in both eyes (corneal curvature) and a prescription of -2 in each eye. Today, in 2023, I have astigmatism in only one eye — one eye is at -0.75 and the other at -0.5. I have never undergone laser eye surgery.
About six years ago, when I was seriously ill and healing naturally from severe depression, constant migraines, anxiety, and other issues — I also began to work on healing my eyesight.
I understood two important things.
The first was that the body is incredibly intelligent and constantly communicates with us. I realized that when someone has eye problems, it means there’s something they don’t want to see — or didn’t want to see in the past. I had gone through so much that it’s no wonder my eyesight had deteriorated.
It’s the same with other parts of the body — they symbolically show us what needs attention and healing.
Feet show direction.
Hands represent action.
The heart — love.
The liver — anger.
The ears — when we don’t want to hear something…
The second thing I realized was how muscles work.
Glasses for the eyes are like a cast on a broken arm — the muscles around the eyes stop working, they weaken, and over time, people need stronger and stronger lenses. That’s also why our eyes feel strained when we take the glasses off — those relaxed muscles suddenly have to work again.
When your arm is in a cast, it weakens while the healthy one stays active. When the cast comes off after a month, the arm feels limp and it takes time to regain strength and flexibility.
That’s exactly what I experienced when, at 30, I decided to stop wearing glasses. My eyes strained, and my vision was blurry at first. At the same time, I was working through things from my childhood — things I didn’t want to “see.” I healed them within myself while also practicing a daily affirmation: “I see clearly, like an eagle.”
After a few months, I no longer needed glasses. My vision had truly improved.
After about 2–3 years, I had to wear glasses again — spending long hours in front of the computer caused eye strain. I went to an optician for an examination, curious about the results. They told me I now had astigmatism in only one eye and both eyes were just at -0.5. That made me happy.
So, anything is possible when there’s will — when a person looks deep within. The body is always communicating with us. It sends signals and signs every day. We just have to be open and start paying attention to them.
PS: Laser eye surgery is also an option — I considered it once. It’s a bit more expensive, and personally, I don’t know how long the effects last. I believe that if a person doesn’t address the root cause within, the problem will eventually return. I speak purely from my own life experience.
About the Author of the Article
I am the author of the book How to Heal? My Journey of Healing from Depression Without Medication. And Not Only from That. It was accompanied by nonstop migraines, anxiety, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts. The first time, I completely healed in 8 months, and about 10 years later, in 1 year and 3 months. It was a path of changes I had to make if I truly wanted to be healthy. I succeeded.
